Games: What games are you currently playing? [OT!]

I have a huge list of PS2 RPG's I'm going though, there's a new video game shop near my house that are selling these things cheap, so I'm getting them while I can. In addition to still playing FFXI. My little Tarutaru is now 75 Monk 75 Blackmage 75 Thief 75 Samurai and working on Ninja and Dragoon...

I also started playing Ragnarok Online again...its's addicting I can't stop ; ;

I'll testify to that. My male elf was a slow retard, and im glad i made the switch.

Currently playing Shadow of the Colossus demo. Ive beaten it 6 times now, and i absolutely cant wait until its released (Feb 2006). From what ive played, its an absolute masterpiece, and it truly is soaring testament to the years of work Sony put into it.

Oh, and i checked out Grandia Xtreme. Having bore witness to the beauty of Grandia III, there isnt anything positive i can say about this game. The gameplay, the graphics, the voice-acting...its all completely redundant now, and im grateful Game Arts gave us something starkly superior.

Im surprised how many games ive been playing over the last week. Heres the almighty list:

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga - Easily the best RPG ive played since Grandia III, and i think it'll probably appeal to you in particular, Wiseman. Im amazed at how underrated/understocked this game is considering its cinematic quality, although not particularly surprised it didnt get a european release. The recently released Digital Devil Saga 2, a direct continuation in both style and story (unlike the notoriously unfaithful Xenosaga II), is meant to be even better, which just furthers my determination to beat it. An abslute must for fans of mature, epic sci-fi RPG series' (kinda narrows it down really...).

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution - An excellent, deep 3D fighter that i dont think i'll ever have enough time to master.

Melty Blood ReAct Final - The best Guilty Gear alternative around, although still in its technical infancy. A little more depth to the gameplay, higher resolution sprites and a console release would certainly see this series contending Arc System Works' golden 2D fighter throne though.

Half-Life 2 - A patch was released, and it no longer randomly crashes. Im very satisfied with the gameplay, and even more so with the way my PC handles its high graphical standards.

Halo 2 - Ive only got about a month left on my Xbox Live subscription, and im making the most of it. As i said before, this game is actually fun when you ditch the headset and just play a stealthy game of Team Sniper. Why would anyone want to listen to a bunch of racist pubescent yanks scream each and every time they manage to shoot someone? They really give american gamers a bad name.

Worms Armageddon - I somehow find myself playing this at 3 in the morning. Stupidly, i do this especially when i know i have college the next day. This is definitely the highlight of the series, and a best of 3 against the computer still makes me smile as it did 8 years ago.

Ummm...and thats it for now. For the most part, i wanted to draw attention to Digital Devil Saga, which, despite being incredibly difficult, had a story and graphical style that really took me by surprise. As an RPG fan, im ashamed for how long ive been overlooking this series.

theres 2 translated snes games in that series if you want to check em out sometime. i think aeon genesis translated both of em, but you can probably get the patches here: http://donut.parodius.com/ i could't really get into em cuz i never liked that first person view in rpgs(although i loved ..i think skullkeep it was called, if not stonekeep).

anyway currently i'm still playing Dynasty Warriors 5. what can i say i loved the side scrolling beat em up genre, and this is the best thing to come along for fans of said genre. plus it proves where gaming can go, 48 playable characters with their own combos, some with unique weapons, all with thier own stories, and every stage, whole not monstrous, is big enough to keep you playing for a while. even if you try acing someones story(musou mode) it'll still take around a half hour to get through.

IRT Phaq - Cheers man. I dont like the first person style all that much either, but i'll check them out.

IRT Xel - Definitely. Its one of the few games available today actually worth the pricetag. I have to wait until february for it though, and jarringly that coincides with the release of Zelda. I think i may end up picking this up instead when push comes to shove.

If the new Zelda is nearly as good as the rest of the series, then it's definitely going to be a better pick over SotC. SotC is amazing, however it lacks ina lot of things to do. The world's beautiful, but... it's empty.

Shadow of the Colossus looks good, but it seems to honor its predecessor Ico in ways I don't know if I like. While visually entertaining, I found Ico to lack enough action for an action game, or enough story for an adventure game. You're basically thrown into a virtual world with no explanations whatsoever and you have to walk through it with more or less difficulty, occasionally fighting beasts with a simple combat system that's not detailed or RPGish enough to be enjoyable in the long term. Perhaps I haven't played Ico enough; I couldn't get past 3 hours into it.

The Colossus battles are fun as hell, and the world is beautiful. Everything about the game is great, except that... it's empty. I'm not asking for NPCs, but some more animals would have been nice. The most you get are some birds and a few fish. While you can interact with them, it'd have been nice for a bit more to be around.

Oh, and Miguel, you might like the game, if only because of the fact that you're playing (What most games) consider a bad guy.
